Brazilian Blowout Lawsuits

Posted on May 2, 2012 By admin

In May, the state of California filed a class action lawsuit against the company that created Brazilian Blowout Açai Solution.

The reason? Twenty-six hairstylists and consumers complained of  nosebleeds, dizziness, and eyes burning, after working with Brazilian Blowout Açai Solution. Apparently, the product line, which claims it is "formaldelhyde-free" does have formaldehyde that is higher than the amount OSHA allows (averaging over 8.5% vs. 2.5%).

High doses of formaldehyde can affect the lungs, that's why the agency issued a Hazard Alert, after testing several salons selling their service, and 10 members of Congress have signed a letter urging the FDA to issue a voluntary recall. The FDA does not regulate cosmetics (though clearly it should), and therefore cannot ask for a recall of it. Canada has already banned the product line from its countries.

So while many are gravitating toward this new straightener as the best solution, be warned for what price you might pay for beauty.
